Dr. Nadine Borduas-Dedekind and Dr. Allan Bertram from the chemistry department were awarded $2-million from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) as part of the Rapid Air Improvement Network (RAIN) to do critical research in tackling air pollution.

Prof. Taka Momose is leading one of three UBC Science projects that have received $13.7 million through the Canada Foundation for Innovaton (CFI) funding. Prof. Taka Momose and Makoto Fujiwara have been funded $4.6 million for his HAICU: Hydrogen Antihydrogen Infrastructure at Canadian Universities for Quantum Innovations in Antimatter Science, in partnership with Simon Fraser University and the University of Calgary.

PhD candidate, Kudzi Nyamayaro, has been awarded the Du Pont Canada Fellowship in pulp and paper. The Du Pont Canada Fellowship in pulp and paper has been endowed by Du Pont Canada Inc and the province of British Columbia. The award is offered to a graduate student undertaking research related to the pulp and paper industry.

Dr. Erin Lindenberg has received a 2019-2020 UBC Killam Teaching Prize. Killam Teaching Prizes recognize outstanding contributions in teaching and the ability to motivate students and stimulate critical thinking, sustained teaching excellence, and development of innovative approaches to teaching methodology and curricula.

Professor Laurel Schafer has been selected for the Society of Chemical Industry LeSueur Memorial Award.
