Dr. Fryzuk receives the 2011 Killam Award for Excellence in Mentoring

Dr. Michael Fryzuk, Head of the Chemistry Department, recently recieved the 2011 Killam Award for Excellence in Mentoring. Awards were presented by Vice Provost David Farrar during the November congregation ceremonies.

The Killam Award for Excellence in Mentoring recognizes the sustained mentorship of numerous graduate students over many years. Mentoring may be related to, but is different from, classroom teaching and is distinguishable from the usual measure of research productivity.

Three outstanding mentors received Killam awards at the ceremony, including the senior award shared jointly by Dr. Fryzuk and Dr. Brian McIlroy of the Department of Film and Theatre. Dr. Adlai Fisher of the Sauder School of Business received the mid-career award.
