Abstract

AlPO-36, the parent member of the ATS, molecular sieve structure type, has been synthesized hydrothermally from gels containing only Al and P oxides. Four series of syntheses were carried out to determine the best conditions for the preparation of AlPO-36 free of AlPO-H3, Characterization of the synthesis products was performed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), chemical analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N-2 adsorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Al-27 and P-31 MAS NMR. X-ray powder diffraction patterns are comparable to those previously reported for MAPO-36. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
