Abstract: Proteins are fascinating molecules of life, but not every protein can be obtained biologically. Synthetic chemistry provides a supplementary approach for the production of proteins. This method expands our exploration of chemistry of life and drug development. In the talk I wish to present some of our exploration in this field, including: method development for chemical protein synthesis, use of chemical synthesis to generate protein probes for solving biochemical and biophysical problems, and finally, development of mirror-image proteins.
