Abstract:

Metal-Ligand Cooperation (MLC) has been widely studied as a powerful strategy for small molecule activation and functionalization. However, further mechanistic insights are needed to fully grasp how ligands and metals work together in these processes. My research first focused on late transition metal complexes with N-, S-, and O-donor ligands for bifunctional B-H activation in hydroboration reactions, with detailed mechanistic pathways explored. In contrast, the second part of my work involved early transition metal complexes (Ti, Zr, Hf, Ta) supported by N,O-donor ligands, investigating their catalytic activity in the hydroaminoalkylation of vinyl-containing molecules, including both small molecules and polymers. These complementary studies underscore the versatility of transition metal complexes in catalytic hydrofunctionalization.
