| Abstract | meso-Tetraphenylchlorin and 2,3-vic-dihydroxy-meso-tetraphenylchlorin and their zinc complexes were dihydroxylated by stoichiometric amounts of OsO4. The chlorins gave specifically 2,3-vic-dihydroxy-meso-tetraphenylbacteriochlorins or 2,3, 12,13-bis-(vic-dihydroxy)bacteriochlorins while the Zn(II)-chlorins gave (2,3-vic-dihydroxy-meso-tetraphenylisobacteriochlorinato) Zn(II) or [2,3,7,8-bis-(vic-dihydroxy)-meso-tetraphenylisobacteriochlorinato]Zn(II ). |
