Congratulations to Sabrina Scott, UBC Chemistry alumna, for being named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Science list!
Cement production is one of the most carbon-intensive industries, accounting for roughly 8% of global emissions. To tackle this challenge, Sabrina co-founded CURA in July 2025 with a mission to make cement manufacturing sustainable. While at the University of British Columbia, she led a team that developed electrochemical reactors capable of decarbonizing limestone—the primary source of cement-related emissions. This breakthrough technology forms the foundation of CURA’s approach. The company is now in the midst of raising a multimillion-dollar investment round to scale its impact.
