Abstract

Cyclization of tetrapyrrolic 1,19-dibromo-1,19-dideoxybiladiene-ac dihydrobromides with sodium azide was dramatically improved by application of a phase transfer agent to give nearly quantitative yields of monoazaporphyrins.
