Chemistry 534: Principles of Chemical Separation

The advancement of chemical separation technologies has enabled the development of many other research areas in physical and life sciences.  Fundamental driving forces for chemical separation will be discussed while some important separation techniques such as chromatography, slab gel electrophoresis, capillary electrophoresis, and micro fluidic devices are introduced.  Two dimensional separation and various detection techniques, including absorption, fluorescence, and mass spectrometry will also be discussed.
